General Student Visa

United Kingdom

Pursue your education at the global centre of learning.

The UK is known as the “Education Capital of the World,” and obtaining a UK Student visa grants you the opportunity to pursue your academic aspirations at some of the world’s most prestigious universities and colleges.

The UK General Student Visa is a type of visa that allows international students to study in the UK for a period of up to five years. This visa is designed for individuals who are at least 16 years old and want to study a full-time course at a university or college in the UK.

Intakes

UK universities typically have three intakes throughout the year.

September/October

This is the main intake for most undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It is the start of the academic year in the UK, and most universities have their largest number of programs available at this time.

January/February

Some universities offer a second intake in January or February for certain courses, particularly postgraduate courses. This intake may have fewer programs available than the September/October intake.

Documents Required

As part of the visa application process, a range of documents must be submitted to the UK government’s visa processing center. The specific documents required for a UK student visa may vary depending on the student’s individual circumstances, but in general, they will include:

  • Passport: A valid passport with at least one blank page.
  • Acceptance letter: An acceptance letter from a UK university or institution confirming that the student has been accepted onto a course of study.
  • Financial evidence: Proof that the student has sufficient funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses. This can include bank statements or a scholarship letter.
  • English language proficiency: Evidence of the student’s English language proficiency, such as an IELTS or TOEFL test certificate.
  • Tuberculosis test: Some students may be required to take a tuberculosis test before they can apply for their visa.
  • Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate: If the student is applying for a postgraduate course in science, engineering, or technology, they may need to obtain an ATAS certificate.
  • Passport-sized photograph: A passport-sized photograph of the student.
  • Biometric information: The student will need to provide their biometric information, including fingerprints and a photograph.
